History and values

The Madrid International Arbitration Center (“MIAC” or the “Center”) began its activity on 1 January 2020. It administers international arbitration proceedings independently, transparently and efficiently in four languages: Spanish, Portuguese, English and French.

MIAC is a body of the Madrid International Arbitration Association (the “Association”) that was established on 25 July 2019.

MIAC was established from the merger of the international branch of the Madrid Court of Arbitration, the Civil and Commercial Court of Arbitration and the Spanish Court of Arbitration. The Court of Arbitration of the Madrid Bar Association also became involved in the initiative as a strategic partner.

The Center operates independently from the Association and acts in accordance with its Statute, its Arbitration Rules and its Rules on the Appointment and Confirmation of Arbitrators. The Center performs its duties through the following bodies:
